ATU Sligo’s partnership with Specialisterne Ireland has been a refreshing experience and has been life changing for our neurodivergent students. The team in Specialisterne Ireland are clearly motivated by student success. They are so easy to work with, being flexible no matter what the student need is.
Specialisterne Ireland run a range of programmes for our students at different points in the year to suit all stages and needs (e.g. CV writing and interview prep or placement preparation skills). The feedback from students is always positive, and we have been able to watch them progress and transition out of university to the world of work.

On Completion of the Specialisterne Ireland Intensive Interview Skills Programme in 2019 100% of students were successful in gaining industry relevant placements. In 2020, we have implemented our programme with a further 10 students.
As for my sessions with Noreen and Adie I found them extremely helpful.
They provided with a great deal of skills and experience with taking interviews that were an incredible help whilst looking for an interview and during the actual interview itself. They provided me with a number of competencies to talk about and prepared me very well for most situations that come up in an interview.

Specialisterne’s support for our students on the autism spectrum and those with similar challenges, has been life-changing for the students. Students were struggling to succeed in placement selection processes, which was very stressful for them. Through the Specialisterne interventions, the students were successful in navigating the various selection processes and all were placed.
Since their placement they have been successful in securing Graduate positions, including a number of them being “flipped” at the end of their placements. Their transformation was remarkable in particular observing the growth in their confidence and skills.

The Careers Team were delighted to work with Specialisterne this semester. Noreen, Adie and the whole team were so responsive, positive and enthusiastic that we in turn have become much greater advocates. Noreen and the team met with recent graduates and students both on campus and onsite at Specialisterne. They came onsite weekly for 8 weeks to meet and support 9 final year students and provided them with 8 individual mock interview sessions which were very positively received. They also worked to support placement students and we were delighted when they secured one of our computing students a 6-month IT placement in with a global insurance company. Thank you so much – we look forward to continuing and strengthening our relationship with Specialisterne!
